When The Uptown Groove was created over a decade ago, it was an initially an instrumental jazz quartet. Although the band has moved in many musical directions since its inception, we love ANY and ALL forms of jazz! Jazz has always been our band’s foundation and the common language between all Uptown Groove musicians.
We love the opportunity to perform jazz in ANY style from ANY decade or genre: straight ahead standards/classics, Dixieland, soul jazz, Latin jazz, swing jazz, Rat Pack, smooth jazz, fusion, etc.
You name it, we can do it!
Based on client budget and the venue’s space constraints, our orchestration for a jazz performance is customizable from solo jazz guitar/piano all the way up to a 9-piece mini-big band. Our typical sizing, however, is a quartet with the ability to add on vocalists, if needed. We play for functions varying from swing dances to cocktail hours and from jazz club settings to large jazz festival stages. For any of your jazz needs, The Uptown Groove is your one-stop shop!
